My kitchen has both 220 stove outlet or gas. I have a gas oven so the outlet is unused. I think it is a NEMA 50. The garage door is off of the kitchen so I am thinking about getting a level 2 charger online and just plugging it in to to the unused stove outlet. The breaker box shows that the outlet is on a duel pole 40 amp breaker. I don't know anything about wiring or breakers and I don't want to fry my Honda battery, but does anyone know if this may be a viable option? I am attaching pictures of the outlet, breaker and the link to the charger I am thinking about getting......

Level II charging

It's your call but for my money I'd stay within the factory recommendations of a 50 watt circuit and unless you're an electrical technician, have a certified tech install it along with a permit for such. That way you'll be entirely within all city/county requirements along with your home insurance company loving you for doing it right. After three interviews, I hired a company for $330. That included mounting the receptible and a new 50 amp breaker and a signed and inspected city permit. I was fortunate price wise that the panel was in the garage within a foot of so of the mounting.

Good luck and try not to cheat yourself by doing a 'McGiver' installation

Hi if what you buy has a male plug that matches the female receptacle you have in the wall you are safe. Most of the EVSE have a short cord before the part with the led's just make sure that part isn't behind the stove you will need to see the led's. The 40 amp breaker is fine for a Level 2 32amp EVSE. The Clarity has built in safety features and can't be over amped if it senses a problem it simply won't charge. Could not see/find the pictures.

How do you plan to get the cable from the garage to the kitchen, by leaving the door open? If you were thinking about running the cable through a hole in the wall that will likely violate your local code.
