A few days ago, I took my 2019 plug-in hybrid for a drive in the mountains. We pretty much coasted for 12 miles or so, coming down, which charged my battery up to 68 miles! I had never seen my EV range go about 53 or 54 miles. Is this normal? Or bad? Also, yesterday when I charged my Clarity, it registered 65 miles! What is happening? Have I discovered a new way to increase my range?

It's an estimate based on the engine load and how much power you were using. There's a reason Volt owners call the EV range estimate the Guess-o-Meter. The Clarity PHEV has the same issues.

You may have seen posts here showing up to 80 miles EV range.
If you were to coast down mountains that is the result, nothing wrong with the car.

Would be nice if we could see the results from climbing up the mountains, lol
From experience, both the gas and electric guess-o-meters in the Clarity drop like a rock when climbing west bound out of Denver up I-70.
