I agree with Rob - it's going to take a lot of free charges to cover the price of that adapter. On the other hand, cost isn't everything and I could see this being useful if you're frequently parked where there are Tesla chargers. We sometimes pay for convenience, which is why convenience stores can charge higher prices for small food items that you might want on the road.

Hi in this case free had two meanings as in not being used and charging for no cost. But getting off topic I was asking if anyone has used one of these with there car. Don't know about anyone else but free charging I would like. Where I am now and using the time of use plan it costs under a dollar to charge over night. Even costing $300 if I could charge for free part of the time would be great. I don't know if everyone knows that Tesla cars charge for free a lot of the time that is why the cars cost north of $100000. There is a tesla type charger where I work and any car can use it any time

The Tesla adapter from Tesla is J1772 Female to Tesla Male - it's made for Teslas to use non-Tesla Level 2 charging. It won't allow you to use a Tesla "destination charger" to charge a non-Tesla or to use a Tesla Level 2 home charge station to charge a non-Tesla.

If you have some other kind of non-Tesla adapter that's Tesla Female to J1772 Male I'd be wary of it.

The "free" Tesla charging you're thinking of is Level 3, DC Supercharging. It's a moot point, though, because the Clarity PHEV can't accept DC current - and the Clarity EV has a CCS charging receptacle for Level 3.

For that Tesla will give the charging equipment to the building owner for free. Also states it will show up on the tesla network of chargers. Ok, so what you're talking about is a Tesla destination charger - and the adapter you linked to on Amazon should work - but it's awfully expensive! The adapter from Tesla that allows a Tesla to charge from a J1772 unit is only $99 - and that's from Tesla!

Big company, Tesla, providing an adapter for their cars to use non-Tesla stations. Small company, TeslaTap, making an adapter allowing non-Tesla plug-ins to use Tesla destination chargers. The competing product JDapter made by Quick Charge Power is similarly priced. No one expects to save money buying one of these, it's about convenience as it opens up more charging opportunities. And the nice thing is if the charging is free then it helps subsidize the convenience.

If you do wind up getting one of these, if you haven't installed Level 2 yet at home, when you do you can install a 14-50 outlet and then purchase a Tesla mobile charger, the 32 amp version is about $300, then use your TeslaTap or JDapter to connect with it.
