It means you do not have a set time for the charger to turn on when you plug in.

Mine is like that - as soon as I plug her in, it starts to charge.

If you have a electricity rate plan and set a scheduled time to start charge then the TCU will be set to remind you that charging starts at a certain time.

Usually if you use L1 (OEM) charger, then you don't need to set the time.
If you use L2 (240V) charging, then it might make sense to take advantage of charging at a certain time of the night...

Yeah. If you've downloaded HondaLink app to your phone, you can set the charging schedule at a specific time and you can also set a reminder. Once you set the schedule up, you will see it on your car's dashboard when you turn if off.

You can also set the timer using the settings menu in the car, however I find it easier to use the HondaLink app.

One thing to be aware of is that if you have a charge scheduled then when you plug in it will not immediately begin charging. If you plug in and want to immediately start charging then you have to turn off the scheduled charge.

Another thing to know about scheduled charging is that if you are late for the "appointment" it will not charge. For example if you have the timer set to charge from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, if you arrive home at say 10:30 pm and plug in it will not start charging. You have to modify the start time to 10:35 pm and it will start charging at 10:35.

You can also override the scheduled charge time if you press and hold the charge lid release button (Page 463 Owner's Manual).

That is correct thanks for bringing that up. However just so everyone is aware using the fob to start charging will cause it to charge until full even if the timer had been scheduled to end at a certain time.

Many people like myself use scheduled charging because we have certain hours when our electric rate is the lowest, in my case it's from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Other people used scheduled charging as a way to keep from charging to full when they don't need a full charge, as there is some evidence that this will help extend battery life. Not that charging to full will harm the battery, but there is some evidence that not charging to full unless you need to is better for the battery. Whatever the reason, using the key fob will cause it to charge until full, which in my case means it will continue charging well past 7:00 am when I usually don't want it to. So normally if I get home after 11:00 pm I just use the app to adjust the scheduled starting time to five minutes from now, but I leave the ending time as 7:00 am.

One trick I learned is that after the modified schedule begins charging, I can immediately change the start time back to 11:00 pm for tomorrow's session, I don't have to try and remember the next day to change it back to 11:00 pm.

I worked through all these issues. I got burned a couple of times coming home late and forgetting to manually start charging. However, now I have a 240 charger. My set charging time is 2:30 am. It will will do a full charge in 2 hr 15 min. so I am done done by 4:45am at the latest.
