Regenerative breaking

I have had my Clarity for about a week now and absolutely love it. I had a Prius for 10 years prior and got pretty good at hypermiling and want to learn to do the same in the Clarity. I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference between slowing down the Clarity with the paddles compared to just using the brake peddle is. Either seems to make the needle move into the change zone on the instrument panel.

My guess is they have the same effect. The paddles might be more convenient when coasting downhill. They also have a very “light touch” so probably lead to a more efficient (slower) charge.
