Generally, I have scheduled my Clarity to start charging at 7pm (when Hydro rates are cheaper), but occasionally I may return home after that time. In the past I have turned off the schedule and started to charge by pressing "Start Charging". While it has always taken way to long to "Update" those changes, it has always worked until today. I am getting a message that the car is in a low service area and it won't accept the fact that I have turned off a scheduled start. Is there any way to charge the car when you have previously preprogrammed to start at a different time? Also, what happens if your phone battery is dead or worse, you lose your phone. How do you charge a battery without the use of a smart phone? Is there any manual over ride?

Charging your 'traction' batteries

Yes, I do it often. Mine is set through the phone app to start at 11PM when it's home and plugged into the garage Level II. However if I stop for instance at Whole Foods for lunch (their parking lots have free Level II stations) or just shopping, I can plug in there and I just hit the charge button on my key until the car beeps and the green charge light at the portal stay's on. Does not need the phone for that operation 'though it's fun to check and see how much it gets topped off in 20 or 30 minutes :).
