How do you precondtion using the fan button on the remote? Mine does not seem to work. How long should it take to kick the fan on after you push and hole the button? The only way I can turn the heat on is with the honda link app. I am ok with using this but I am not sure if my remote or that feature is working properly. Will the dash flash? Will I hear the blower on? etc... Thanks

First hit the lock car button on the remote. Then push the "FAN" picture on your key fob, AND hold it for about 3 seconds. At that point, the turn signals flash a few times to signify that they got the command. A few seconds later, the HVAC turns on. In just 3-5 minutes, the interior of my car goes from 45 deg to 65 deg. Like an warm cocoon in the early morning!

Do you need to have the blower on prior to turning car off and the heat and temp on first? Or, does it default to a certain temp on its own and the fan can be off prior to turnign car off? I am following your steps and the climate does not turn on with the remote, even after I see it flash the lights as you mentioned. The only way I can get it to preheat is to use the honda link app.

Have you tried letting the Clarity do most of the work: before shutting down the power, press the AUTO button and twirl it to your desired temperature. Then turn off the power, exit the vehicle, and follow the recommendations in the previous post...

That's exactly correct. If you set the system to, say, 68 deg and AUTO while driving around, then park and turn the car off, that is the state that will be in when you start the car and drive away. And it is what the precondition steps described above will achieve. Once you try it, you will be a fan!

Dont ask me why but the button on the remote worked yesterday and today. SAves me from using the app, which isn't too bad either. I wonder how much it kills the EV range because with this 20 degree weather i have been getting jackcrap for miles. Total charge is 33 miles and getting less when I actually drive.

I'm still shopping for a Clarity and have a question about preconditioning the car while plugged in. I've read that it will not work while connected with the OEM Level I charger. Will it allow preconditioning with a 16amp Level II connected, or do you need the full power of a 32amp Level II to accomplish this?

People have succesfully preconditioned with the factory L1 EVSE - but only if charging is complete. When I precondition my Clarity Electric, it draws 30A for a short time before dropping off.
You can very likely precondition with a 16A L2 EVSE, but it may pull some from the battery to start at the expense of a little range. How much will likely vary based on ambient temperature.

Thank you for the response. I think I'll spend the extra $150 on a 32A L2 EVSE and not have any concerns about preconditioning while connected.

When I precondition with my charger and the car is full, it will start to charge again as it preconditions. I also preconditioned while it was hooked up to a level two free charge at the casino and it did the same thing. I thought even if you get the bigger amp cord it will still pull at 16 amps? Not sure about that nor am I knowledgeable about it.
I am going to post a new thread about my miles in winter being only 30 and seeing if others have this # in cold climate.
