As soon as I precondition it through the app, the music stops and wont play anymore. I assume it is because it is connected to the car.
Well okay this thread is over two years old but it does bring up some of the quirkiness of the Bluetooth connection in the Clarity. I can confirm that my car works the same way, I tested by having a YouTube video playing on my phone, then I started preconditioning while standing next to my car, and as soon as preconditioning started the audio on my phone suddenly went silent although the video continued playing, just with no sound. The audio was not playing in the car. I could still make phone calls with my phone, so it seems only media audio is affected by this. When I stopped preconditioning, audio returned to my phone. Of course this only happens if you are near the car while preconditioning which at least for me is normally not the case.
A bigger annoyance for me with the infotainment system is that the audio source doesn't automatically switch between Bluetooth and Android Auto. I am guessing this is true for CarPlay also. If my audio source is set to Bluetooth and I plug in Android Auto the audio goes silent. To get audio back I have to press Source on the infotainment screen and select Android Auto (or use the arrow keys on the steering wheel). But then the next time I am in my car if I don't plug in Android Auto then I don't get audio until I change the source back to Bluetooth. Not a huge problem but just slightly annoying that it doesn't make this switch automatically since obviously the car knows if you are plugged into Android Auto or not.
Another annoyance is that when the audio source is set to Bluetooth when I turn on the car, then any music or podcasts or YouTube that was paused on my phone immediately starts playing, sometimes at high volume depending on what the car's volume control was at previously. This can be pretty startling when you aren't expecting it, especially since it doesn't happen immediately but only after infotainment has finished booting and by that time I am usually starting to move and I don't need the distraction of suddenly hearing the audio of a YouTube video that I had been previously watching to start blasting through the speakers.
Pressing the audio power button is the easiest and fastest way to kill the sound when this happens, although then I have to remember to turn audio power back on the next time I want to listen to something. I don't think this is a problem with my phone as it does not behave this way with any other Bluetooth devices that I use. But it might be phone specific as I don't hear of other people complaining about this. I have tried changing settings in my phone but that didn't help, but again I wouldn't expect it to be a phone setting since other Bluetooth devices that I use don't have this problem.
