Hi,
New to Clarity (2 days) but I also have a Gen-1 Volt for 4 years so I'm not new to the technology. Both cars are very similar in operation but different enough that I have a couple questions:
- The battery gauge does not fully deplete when the car switches from fully electric to hybrid mode. Is this normal? I would have thought that the gauge would drop to no bars and then switch. Does it ever go to empty?
- The Volt provides efficiency metrics based on the last time the car was charged. I can't tell how the Clarity is doing it. I found a setting for the trip odometers so I set trip A to re-set upon full charge and trip B to re-set based on gas fill-up. So when I look at efficiency, will it be based on these settings?

Thanks!

The Clarity holds 2 bars' worth of electricity in reserve, so what you see is normal. As for the metrics, I have both trip meters set as you do. But I don't think allowances for changing between EV and HV are factored in. I am guessing that each is accurate until you change modes.

The Clarity has a "guessometer" on the panel that shows EV and HV. EV are estimates of your last few drives. People fixate on these and during the summer they may range into to 70 Miles per charge and in the winter down into the 30MPC. Again, they are estimates of what you will get based on your last few drives. If you have been taking it easy in the summer they will be very high and if you have been driving on the Interstate with the heater on they will be very low.
