Hi all,

I just leased Clarity and came back home. It felt good driving without using any gasoline. However, when I arrived home from the first drive about 20 miles from dealer's shop, I could smell burning smell and vague smoke coming up from each side beams. Is this normal for this vehicle? Should I be worried and call dealer tomorrow morning? If anyone knows what's going on, that would be great.

Thanks,

I have never smelled anything like that. EVER! I would take it immediately to the dealer if you are sure it is due to the car and not something else. The only smell my car has (which unfortunately is fading) is that wonderful new car smell!

Congratulations on your new car. 1st, it's not abnormal for some new exhaust pipes to burn off whatever oil film they had on them from just being new. That could extend to the exhaust manifold but it should be minor and all of that should disappear after the 1st or 2nd good drive.

However what you described doesn't sound normal they way you described it. What are you meaning by "the side beams"? If everything seems ok this morning, drive back to the dealer just to have him put it up on the rack and have a look to be sure all is ok. Let us know please.
