I just purchased a new Honda Clarity and love it so far. This is my fourth plug in hybrid. I have had two Chevy Volts and still own a Mitsu Outlander PHEV. I am having issues charging my new Honda with the Clippercreek chargers that I have installed at my company. I have 8 charger at my company and have had no issues charging either my volt or outlander. There are other associates with Volts, Bolts, BMW SUV, Outlanders, Leafs and Tesla Model S's . Nobody has had issues with these charges up until now with my new Clarity. I have a GE 220V charger installed in my garage that has charged both my Volt and my Outlander, this charger works great on the Honda. I have also used the stock 110V charger with no issue. Does anyone have any idea why this car out of all the above models is having issues with the professionally installed ClipperCreek chargers at my plant. I plug it in and it charges for exacly 11 minutes and then I get a fault. The engine light is now on but no other issues are present. I just fully charged the car at home with my GE charger but the engine light is still on.

any thoughts or experience with this issue?

Without the ODB code we can't help you. Since you just bought your car I'd recommend taking it in to your Honda dealership and have them read the code and fix your car's charging system.

You need to get the update from Honda.

Ask your service advisor for Service Bulletin # 18-097 (L2 Faulty Public Charging) to be applied.

Make sure you tell them that you are having problems fully charging outside your home on L2.

Depending on when the car was manufactured will determine how many of the service bulletins have been applied.
I asked when I picked mine up (December 2018 manufactured) and the service dept confirmed all SB have been applied at the Saitama, Japan factory.
Have not had a failure to charge at any L2 public chargers....

Here are the common SB being applied to 2018 Claritys:
18-089: EVTC & 3-way Valve software update for DTC's P100C, P0010, and P26A3 (this replaces 18-079)
18-090: Climate Control Unit Replacement
18-091: Driver Display Software Update (Mileage) (this replaces 18-069)
18-096: Warranty Information CD
18-069: HV Mileage Issue
18-097: L2 Faulty Public Charging

My dealer charged me an hour of labor (124.38+tx) to tell me this « after a thorough check of the charging system, your car has no problem but that the update we made will surely solve your charging problem « what do you think about this?
