So I picked up the 2018 Clarity PHEV base on New Years Day to qualify for the increased SCE utility rebate and for the new CA HOV carpool stickers (purple) for 2019.

I have questions about the Honda Care Sentinel 3 year / 36K plan.

The finance manager pushed this on us asking us about the cost of oil changes, tire replacements, etc...

We negotiated from $1050 down to $435 - hoping that was a good deal ??

How often are oil changes done on a Clarity and how much does a Honda dealer typically charge ?

Is this a good maintenance plan from Honda America ?

250,00 miles? That's about 1200 miles a day. Where do you live, the outback? :) I'm sure you meant 25,000 miles. Jiffy Lube and others can do the oil change for less than $50 and still keep you car under warranty.

On my Volt the information system actually told you the remaining oil life. I miss that feature on the Clarity. In my time leasing the Volt (total mileage 30,000) I only had to change the oil twice. Ended up with two prepaid oil changes that I transferred to the new owner.

Depending on how much the gas engine gets powered up seems to be the variable in having more or less frequent oil changes ???
Good point. The Volt will not use the engine when charged and in EV (Hold) mode even when the pedal is fully depressed. So I imagine over the 36 months of the lease the engine was used in the Volt much less than it will be in the Clarity over the same time period.
