hands-free trunk open mod for Clarity

Hi Clarity owners!

I bought 2019 Clarity PHEV at the end of last year (2020). It was left-over (probably demo car) model, so I got a great deal. It was very happy shopping.

So far, I have been very happy to drive the car everyday. No need to use any gas to commute!
Only thing I complain is that the car does not have automatic trunk/tail gate opener. So I installed the trunk damper. It does not perfectly work (I guess some one knows better solution)... but it definitely helps.

I would like to share my (cheap) solution to all Clarity owners (I created short YouTube video). Enjoy!
*please excuse my poor English... Thanks!

I think I would try a pushrod with a longer throw or maybe one with more pressure. I have been thinking of doing this to my clarity also because it has very weak springs to hold it open and the slightest breese will blow it down , usually with the latch hitting me squarly in the head and making holes there and causing bad words to come from my mouth. I took it in to honda on a service call to fix the weak spring problem but they said there was nothing to be done.
Thanks for your comment. Yay I got the first commnet : )

It always rains in the area (Seattle WA) I live during winter. So, this hands-free mod is really helpful everytime I shop for groceries (both of my hands are full of heavy grocery bags, and I cannot put them on the wet ground).
So far, the dampers I added lift enough for me (I guess the most of people want to open it all the way).

I am thinking to add the extra springs as the guy in the below video did.
