Ford Mustang Mach E 2022 order being pushed into 2023 MY

Wife ordered a 2022 Mustang Mach EV in April 2022 just before the cutoff for 2022 and before the increase in prices.

Now we just got a message from Ford saying that our 2022 MME is now pushed into a 2023.

Even though Ford is passing on a rebate for the price difference, the 2023 trim has changed significantly that the options are no longer available.

On top of that, color is no longer available (matching ice blue silver Lightning).
Can't find a decent color choice for 2023 - very limited unlike the Lightning 2023 colors.

Price protection is gone which means the preferred rates and incentives are gone as well.

Not quite sure what to do....

Since Ford is willing to adjust the price I think it's a keeper. Are you entertaining the idea of a different brand?

If your order is a written contract, Ford must honor it (to your satisfaction).

My order has priority since it's being moved from 2022 to 2023 but the question is will Ford adjust the price if I move into a different trim level.

The 2023 Select trim lacks a lot of options that the 2022 had to choose from.

If I move my Select order to a Premium trim which has those options standard, will I get that 2022-2023 price differential ?

It's an order placed online with a $500 deposit.

I don't know if it's binding since they can't make the 2022 anymore...
I think legally they can't sell you a car that doesn't exist...

It would make logical sense to sell you a substantially similar vehicle at the price you already ordered at. Otherwise it would technically be the same as raising the price. I would contact them and clarify.

Ah. I suspect that without a contract, Ford is only on the hook to return the $500, should things go sideways.

Correct, since the vehicle never materialized with a VIN or otherwise, they can just refund my deposit and call it an end.

Hoping the dealer would get more info on the transitional price offer for those that have reservations from 2022 and being pushed into a 2023....

Right now, it's anyone's guess.

I'll let my $500 ride and see what actually gets delivered.

When it gets delivered, if I don't like the terms, rates or price protection I can walk with my $500 - no obligation...

My new order is in with Ford: 2023 Mustang Mach E Premium trim - Space White Metallic - White interior.

Getting Private Cash offer to offset 2023 pricing.

Priority code = 01 (fastest production prioritization) due to original 2022 order.

Any updates on this? We're still waiting for VinFast to contact us, (or the given up hope on Cybertruck). I noticed they've got ordering open for the Mach-E on the Ford website. Ford BlueCruise looks like a rebranded GM SuperCruise. Will you be getting that option?

Yes, updated last month by Ford - production build will be starting 12/5/22 as Priority 01 which supersedes any new '23 orders.(y)

Afraid it won't make it by the end of the year unless a miracle happens so will have to see what the new tax credit holds in 2023.

As for BlueCruise - yes I am getting that feature but it only works on major roads w/ full GPS access.
As I understand, it's not as smooth or reliable as GM's SuperCruise.

My '22 order that was forced into a '23 had to upgrade a trim because the base trim now makes it a subscription for both BlueCruise and 360 cameras which is silly...
Soon subscription fees will apply to engage the motors.:ROFLMAO:

Confirmed Ford's $6,000 transitional private cash offer on my incoming MME and there are some decent rates using Ford Options instead of relying on outside financing which I had to do with my Lightning EV truck...

Just went out: Ford drops prices on Mustang Mach E for 2023!

Guess they wanted to play ball with Tesla ?

New prices are effective 1/1/23.

Any deliveries / purchases before today will get a refund check from Ford!

My order will get $4000 off the sticker and the $6500 cash rebate plus the $2000 Ford Options balloon financing!

Plus the state and federal credits.

Net cost: $34K

I think they're both playing catch up with the Chevy Bolt. With discounts and incentives, they're going for the high $20k range, and Chevy can't make them fast enough.

No kidding!
I was at a Chevy dealership the other day and saw 2 Bolt EUV being prepped for delivery.
Sales person said he sold both EUVs to 1 customer who wanted the tax credits and reduced pricing.
You can buy 2 for the price of 1 Ford Mustang Mach EV.... ;)

And sell one for ~$5k-$10k more than was paid for it. I see people writing about doing it, over on the Bolt forum.

By doing so, you can effectively get a Bolt for something in the low $20k range.

Doing this doesn't endear those people with others, just trying to get their hands on one, for a "normal" market price.

Mach e is now an SUV with an $80K cap (as of Feb 3rd). Reclassification is retroactive so all 2023 purchases so far get the full $7,500 (the day after the IRS issues the guidance on how they will treat the battery this will likely change)/

As a note- in order to claim the credit, the seller provide you with a report at the time of purchase and file the same info with the IRS no later than Jan 15th in the following calendar year.

I don't know of any dealer/manufacturer that is even aware of this and are therefore not providing the report. I am currently trying to get Rivian to provide this for my R1S and not getting anywhere so far.

All the dealers are using a form from Ford that the sales manager signs attesting to the price and maximum tax credit eligibility.

The form is used to file with the IRS at the end of the year by the dealer.

The customer will use their VIN and IRS will match it against the dealer's report when they file the following year.

In March, we shall see how much the tax credit gets chopped as a result of the IRS ruling on the battery.....

This is an older form used when the $55K max for the Mustang Mach E - now that it's been raised to $80K - all trims qualify at least until March.
