I've had my Clarity about a month, and I love it. I drive a lot for work, I used to put $300-$400 in gas every month in my Legacy, and this first month I only spent $45 on gas for my Clarity... So far it's incredible!

Welcome to the community and congrats on your Clarity. I think once you've owned a hybrid it will be quite difficult to ever consider a petrol car again. What trim/spec is your new car?
Thanks! I think you're right, I already can't imagine going back. I have a 2018 base model... I've never been happier with a car.

Welcome!

I've had my Clarity for 2 full months now, and February was the best month yet. I put over 1100 miles on my car this month, and only bought 5 gallons of gas the entire month!!!!!!!!!! I spent about $12 on gas, and right around $27 on electricity (that's what my bill increased, anyway).....Earlier this week I managed to go 54 miles pure EV as well.

LOVE IT!

PS: As a complete side note, I have named my car "Kosh Clarity". Kosh was a character from the sci-fi series Babylon 5, and made a chiming sound similar to the sound that the Clarity makes when you put it in gear..... #NerdAlert #KoshClarity I put his picture here for the fun of it.... :nerd:

I did extensive research on the cost of electricity for me and gas. I figure I saved $6 per day or $42 per week in fuels costs (over my previous car which got 28 mpg). The full range for me is around 50 EV miles which is my commute almost exactly. My charging costs between 10pm and 7am is $0.1275 KWh and the cost of gas is $3.69 per gallon.

For me, the price of gasoline vs electricity is not so different. We pay .12 cent KWh for electricity no matter what time of day, and gasoline is currently $2.06 per gallon. The convenience of a preheated/precooled cabin and silent EV running is more enticing than the cost savings of using electricity vs gasoline.

I have super cheap electric where I live. about 4 cents/kilowatt below 1000kw and 6 cents/kilowatt after 1000 kw in winter. So basically 6 cents per kw. 15X 6 cents = 90 cents per charge. Getting roughly 35 miles per charge in cold winter months. Drive roughly 250 miles/week.250/35= 7 charges. 7x.90 6.30 for a week? IF all miles are on EV. Other car was getting 25 mpg. avg gas is 2.5 so I would pay 100 bucks/month. Electric cost is 25/month. Save 75/month? Since I bought the car I have used 1/2 tank gas so far and have 693 miles on odometer. Have not put any gas in the car yet. That is driving 38 miles away to the casino and 38 back as well. I get a free charge when I am there. :) Make any sense?

Crazy how little we depend on gas stations these days which will only get better as these models improve. Sure makes you wonder what a next generation Clarity might be like but Honda also has a reputation of moving slow. So it can go either way, i'm hoping for the former.
