I have a 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Touring, purchased new in April 2019, and have put about 8500 miles on it. I am loving the car but I have heard a similar sound which I think I am hearing from the right front wheel also. I start to hear it when I get up to 30 to 40 mph and when I am in EV mode. In HV mode, it was still there but not as noticeable over the engine sound. It is a very dull, low volume "whomp-whomp" type sound that increases in frequency the faster you go. I don't feel any vibration in the steering wheel or unusual handling of the car in turns or going straight. In fact, I can take my hands off the wheel on a straight drive and car stays straight, no pulls to either side. Tried opening the passenger window to see if I could hear it better but it does not sound any louder plus the wind noise probably covers it up anyway. I thought it could be tire sounds or just wind noise or just maybe the car runs so quiet that I am picking up on a normal sound that would not be noticeable otherwise. I was concerned that it could also be the beginning of a bad front axle or bearing problem. So after, I had the car for about 1 month and about 550 miles, I took it back to the dealer and explained what I was hearing. They checked the brakes and tires and could find no problem. They even offered to go with me on a road test, which I did and pointed out the sound I was hearing and the technician said that was normal sound for the car. So 8000 miles and over 1 year later, the sound is still there but not getting any worse and the handling, braking and steering are fine so far. I tried to do some research on the issue and do recall reading somewhere that the electric motor may be making the sound but that it is a normal sound for the motor. So I am just keeping an "ear" on the sound and if it gets worse, I will bring it up when the car goes in for its next maintenance.
