about 80 miles since none of the nearby Honda dealers had any in stock. Everything worked as anticipated, altho I expected to see the 'green leaf eco' indicator on the dash go off when the power shifted smoothly from battery to engine, and it didn't. Is there any way to tell exactly when the shift happens from battery to engine, other than the 3-dimensional image which you can pull up on the dash? Also, I was surprised after the power shifted from battery to engine that while viewing the 3-D image on the dash it seemed to go back and forth between power from the engine and then temporary power from the battery. I guess this models how typical Hybrid engines work, but given I was going a steady 70mph with no braking I was surprised this was happening. I tested out the HV Charge function and it did work and allowed me to shift to pure electric when I neared my home. Haven't been able to touch the car since I got it home as my wife will probably never drive anything else!

charging Clarity

not a direct answer, but just wonder about your Clarity... how to are planning to charge it - only 110V cable included as I understand. So to do Level 2 charging you will need additional equipment, is that right?

Yep, I'm planning on just using the 110v charger that comes with the car. For our purposes there is no need for us to charge from an empty battery to a full battery in 2.5 hours. It's been working well for us during our first week of usage: we've left it plugged in overnight to get a full charge twice but usually we only use 20-30 miles of battery per day so 5-6 hours in the evening gets it back to a full charge. I have a relatively new garage but it doesn't have 220 in it and it would cost hundreds of dollars to install. I'm not sure if a different charging cord for 220 is necessary -- I never researched it 'cause I knew I wouldn't be needing it.

Hey, I drove my new Clarity Plugin Touring home yesterday as well :)

There is a symbol EV on the dash (under where the green Eco symbol is) that is on when you are driving electric only, but goes off when the gas is engaged.
