@;I’m trying to update the maps on my new Honda Clarity PHEV. The instructions say the jump drive must be in FAT32 format. I have a fairly new iMac that will not format a drive to that. Any suggestions or work-arounds?

I have the same issue with Windows 10 v1903. My 64GB USB stick won't format FAT32 without an external program. I was able to format a 16GB USB stick with FAT32. An 8 GB stick should work for the US as the download is 6.92GB. I'm installing to a 16 GB stick and will report back on the actual space used once the Garmin Express finishes writing the USB drive.

Also, the car was able to see and write to my 64GB USB drive formatted to FAT32 using large sectors. 64GB sticks require large sectors because there are too many sectors at the default of 512 bytes, which is why I suspect your iMac doesn't report FAT32 as an option.

I used Rufus 3.5 to format my 64GB drive. In your case I'd search for free USB drive formatters for your version of iOS.

Intersting - as soon as the Garmin Express completed the download and copy to my USB drive it immediately popped up with "update available". Sure enough, there's an update.

These files will fit on an 8 GB drive, but just barely.

Most flash drives come in FAT32 format.

Also, for future reference, if you want to play music or audiobooks from a flash drive it, too, has to be in FAT32 format - and the files need to be in MP3, WMA or AAC format. Also, AAC files must be in iTunes format, not any other "flavor" of AAC.

So the Garmin app on my PC notified me that there was a new map update. I downloaded the update but when tried to install it in the car, it said the map in the USB drive is the same map as in the car and recommended not to reinstall the map. Anyone else have this issue?

We have tried to update the Garmin map on our 2018 Honda PHEV numerous times and get the message that we have the latest map. We've communicated with Garmin, and they keep saying to reformat, reload, etc. but nothing works. Our issue is that before the update, we could see EV charging stations. Now, we do not see EV charging stations and also lost our "favorites." Honda says unless there is a recall, we must pay $225 for a diagnostic check. The map updates are free for 5 years, so we are worried that they are just waiting until they can tell us updates are no longer available or are very expensive.

This is weird: I updated both the Clarity and my wife's CRV maps after the message from Garmin announcing a new map version. Both don't show a major street near us that was completed over 2 years ago. Yesterday I updated my Garmin Drive 50 portable and it includes that street (and other even newer streets).

I had similar issues when I bought new Thomas Guides (remember those?).
