Ignore this, nothing in the manual to indicate such. 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
The gas engine will run when necessary to recharge the traction batteries, recharge the 12v batterie, or to offer a few more 'ponies' if actually needed.

Welcome to the forum and congrats. It does seem a bit counterintuitive to purchase a 'green' car and leave it idling for extended periods of time lol.

No such thing. I have the plug in as well, can get up and go in the AM. I’m on the east coast and we drop into the 30s overnight. No problem in the Am. Nothing to pre-start. The only thing is that you can remote or use the app to start the climate control but that can eat up the battery also. I have done this while it’s still plugged in from overnight and it doesn’t drain the battery down.
