Automatic headlights not working

Hello folks,
I have a 2020 Clarity TRNG where I have just installed illuminated door sills (08E12-TRT-101 / which looks and works great), but after hooking the negative to the battery + resetting the system with the audio power button, I noticed the auto headlamps do not turn the headlamps on at all/when its dark (The manual headlamps themselves work).

The Vehicle Settings > Light Settings also do not show the autoheadlamp settings. The ambient light sensor is not covered, so not sure what the problem is. Could it be a short? Could the fuse have blown? Does the ambient light sensor need time to re-adjust before working again?

I also noticed the footwell lights (interior illumination 08E10-TVA-0M001) do not turn on anymore.

The vehicle runs, and all other exterior and interior lights and buttons appear to be working. No alarms or alerts on the dashboard. Before heading to the dealer, I'd appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!

I would take it into the dealer and have them check it since it's under warranty.

Only leave the illuminated sills installed if they are GENUINE Honda parts because if you installed a generic or copy from eBay/Amazon then it might void the warranty!

My guess is that there might be coding / programming done on the system bus for the illuminated sills and auto headlight operation since they operate the same at darkness..
Since the problem showed immediately after the install of the sill lights, my first step would be to disconnect those. If everything else returns to normal at that point, it is wither the sills themselves or the installation method creating the issue. If the problem continues, it may have been coincidental to the sill install or possibly wires were damaged.

It is a bit strange that the auto headlamp menu selection is no longer showing.
Do all of the other lighting setup options appear?
  • Interior light dimming time
  • Auto headlight off timer
  • Auto interior illumination sensitivity
  • Auto headlight on with wiper on
Thank you folks - yes they are genuine parts ordered from a Honda dealer. I inspected all the wiring and there is nothing to suggest a physical damage, but point taken. I'll unplug the negative, unplug the sills, and restart the car to see what happens. There are only two lighting setup options:
  • Interior light dimming time
  • Auto headlight off timer.

The last two options are not showing. It'd be weird if there is an additional programming because the Clarity official install guide does not mention it.
Hi again,
So I unplugged the door sills and restarted the car, and the footwell lights work. They turn on whenever the manual headlights and parking lights are on.

But there definitely must be a problem with the auto headlights. Im guessing the auto-headlight fuse crapped out or the auto-headlight sensor is dead. Hopefully nothing worse than that. Unless anyone else has any other suggestions, Ill be taking this to the dealer sometime in the future TBD to troubleshoot.

Thank you! Will keep folks posted so they know the results.
Just an update, it was a faulty auto headlamp sensor. Dealer replaced under warranty, so all was good. My dealer usually will charge a $195 inspection fee that they charged to warranty, in addition to cost of the part and labor. Car was kept overnight waiting for the part to arrive. Thanks for everyone's advice!

Thanks for updating us!

Enjoy the new illuminated door sills.
