I just use the numbers on the gas pump and call it good. I know that in-between gas fill-ups it's an estimate only.
You didn't indicate if there are electric miles involved. The only way to get an accurate mpg calculation is if you were in HV mode the entire time between fill ups, as any EV driving will throw the mpg calculation completely off. That will be true both for the on screen display and in your consumption based calculations. Personally I am not willing to give up EV driving even briefly just to get an accurate mpg calculation, I just accept the published 42 mpg as being within the ballpark. In theory you could use the trip meter along with a notebook to keep track of EV miles driven between fill ups, then subtract the EV miles from the total miles driven. Some people have tracked their gas consumption on trips where they had long segments between fill ups in HV mode, that's the only time I would do it, although I haven't made any trips with my Clarity since I got it.Hi All, does anyone know of a fuel consumption device that can be connected to a Clarity? I'm disappointed with the readings I get, always 5-6 mpg more than my true mpg, which I calculate after a fill-up (miles driven/gallons pumped). It seems to me, in this day and age, the calculations should be more accurate than they currently are. I would be interested in any thoughts from other owners or the actions they have taken. Thanks!
