The Smooth Ride !

What I like best: the smooth ride.
ECON mode dampens down high accelerations, so passengers never feel sudden jerks no matter how badly I drive(!) My friends and relatives are now remarking how pleasant the ride is. Suddenly I have become a smooth operator!

What I like not so much: ACC.
ACC mode tries to preserve constant velocity until entering the prescribed following interval, when strong decelerations may occur. This may result in max charge maintainability, however the smoothness disappears! I would like to see a mode where the vehicle in front is tracked much earlier for longer, more damped decelerations. This could result in a much smoother slow down. Instead, Honda merely recommends not to use the ACC function in stop and go situations.

Any other suggestions?

I don't like the ACC deceleration either. Quite often I drop 5mph before I notice and by that time i am going to slow to switch lanes. It will take some getting used to. I am so used to regular cruise control on the highway so I haven't tried it much otherwise. On the highway I am trying to switch lanes earlier. In town or B roads, I have to remember to try it.
This can be a smooth car to drive. Drive it like a limo!!!!!!!

Agreed, the Eco mode is the best and smoothest car I have ever been in.

Also, the quietness is quite eerie to adjust to coming from high end luxury cars....

I dont mind switching lanes. But I sometimes drive in the dedicated HOA lane, which is frequently near full capacity resulting in single lane stop and go driving. It sure would be nice if ACC could take over that tedious task!

Do you think Honda did anything different this time around to improve sound deadening? If you're noticing less than normal road noise, that might be a slight indication.

Yes, I know that Honda has introduced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) into their speakers by using cabin microphones to send out opposed sound waves.

The reason I found out about this feature is that a different message forum board found the ANC would interfere with speaker upgrades:
https://www.insideevsforum.com/commu...-clarity.2221/

I like the ANC feature because it reminds me of the Bose QC35II and Sony noise cancelling headsets I use while flying on planes - the loud jet noise inside a plane's cabin can be disruptive.
Using an ANC headset makes it possible to get some quiet sleep time on a plane by sending 180 degree opposing sound waves to cancel the incoming noise.

I hope Honda realizes that by doing so, we might fall asleep while driving ????

I had a car start to come over into my lane while I was in ACC made and my car slowed down quite rapidly. I was surprised because the other car didn't really enter My lane. Better safe than sorry I guess. Does anyone know if when the ACC slows you very quickly the brake lights come on?
