HV range

Hello all, I am a new forum user. I purchased my 2918 Honda Plug-In Hybrid in December 2017. When the car was new the HV Range indicated 340 miles. After driving more than 2500 miles mostly in electric mode and enough miles in HV mode I needed to fill the gas tank. After getting a full tank of gas my HV Range indicates 1000 miles. Have others experienced this reading? I took the car to Honda Service to see if this was normal. I was told this was a software problem and Honda is working on it.

Same for me. I have 6,000 miles and drive mostly electric. The electric range estimate is accurate but the gas estimate is not. hopefully they will have a software fix for that at some point. I just ignore that estimate and assume a full tank of gas will take me 7 gallons x 42 mpg = about 300 miles + whatever electric range I have.

Correct, the car is calculating based on your accumulated habits and assumes that you will continue to drive in same manner. That being said, be sure to run the engine at least once a week in HV or sport mode for a least 15-20 minutes to keep it in good working order.

HV & EV mileage range

My Clarity is 3 months old. After 2,473 miles, I just filled the tank for the 2nd time. The HV range now indicates 1,000 miles. This number has been too high since my 1st fill up when it listed 720 miles. I understand this is a known issue. Once a week I make a 96 mile round trip that requires HV mode.

My EV range varies between 56 and 63 depending on the Maryland weather. My son drives a Tesla and has informed me that his EV range is lower in the winter. I am interested in learning what others have experienced.

EV range will be substantially lower in the winter, and typically most owners see a 15% loss. And a bunch of people have noticed some faulty readouts on the Clarity, which hopefully Honda will push out a software update for.

I heard a software update came out about a month ago. It addresses the ev mileage readings as well as the rare flashing dashboard lights on startup.

Do you know how one goes about updating the software of the car? Does it have to be done at the dealer?

I think the reason we're all getting similar results is we're using the car around town and burning very little gas. In your setup, you can change whether the computer recalibrates when you fill it up or when you manually reset it. I think that could clear the issue. Mine is set to automatically recalibrate when I fill it (not very often). On a few short (about 50 miles highway travel) trips I've made in HV mode where the engine runs more, the average does come down to a little above 50 mpg.

This car has quite a few computers all working in harmony with each other. For this reason I named this car "WATSON".

I now have a Level II charger on my garage wall.

HV range fix

Incorrect HV range fix is SB 18-069. It is a software update that is done by the dealer service dept. Had mine done and it is now correct.

I think the car is programed to run for about 60 seconds every week or so. So far in 1,509 miles I've owned it It has not used much gas. My guess is 1/16 to 1/8 of a gallon.Just run it in electric mode and the computer will automatically run the ICE for 60 seconds or less
