Exclamation 2019 Honda Clarity MPG issue

Hi Friends,

I am a new owner of a Honda Clarity 2019 Base model. I have 3500 miles on the car. I like the car very much and am enjoying the ride.

I have a question though - When I fill the gas tank (7 Gal), the miles the car shows me is 192. this number is just for the gas and not electric battery. When i charge the Battery fully, it adds 46 miles more.

But, my cousin has a clarity and when she fills gas, her full tank shows her 295 miles gas efficiency.

I just wanted to know if there is something wrong with my car.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

That number is an estimate which can be very inaccurate. That's why it's called the guess-o-meter. If you really want to measure your range per gallon then the best way is to do it manually.

Will change as you driving habits change, if you race around it will show lower distance than if you drive gentle highway miles.

There's nothing wrong with your car - the "range meter" is actually a "guess-o-meter" based on your driving habits (and the weather conditions, which effect the car's efficiency). It's just a case of "your mileage may vary". If ICE cars had range meters people would be up in arms about how much their mileage varies from tank to tank.

Just watch the fuel meter on the right side of the display and figure that you're getting somewhere between 45 and 49 mpg. So, when the "low fuel" light comes on you have at least two gallons left in the tank - and 90 miles will surely get you to a fuel station!

Many ICE cars do have range meters now. The big difference is a 10% difference in efficiency doesn't cause much range variation at 20 or even 30 MPG, but when you get into the 40 or more MPG range it's really noticeable. MPGe is affected even more because those numbers are so high.
