2020 vs 2019

I am looking for a Clarity in Los Angeles. I have gotten a few quotes for base model.

So far 2020 best deal is $29,000. $4372 or so off MSRP

There are some 2019 models left, but surprisingly, dealer only offer $1375 off MSRP.

Does the forum. have any particular dealer it likes?

My all time favorite - bought 3 Hondas from: Cerritos Norm Reeves Honda.

They cut the profit margin so slim - it's almost unreal.

RULE 1: Deal with the Internet dept - don't ever call or walk into a dealership - they will never give the best deal.

The floor and phone sales people are paid on profit over volume.

Internet sales are paid on volume over profit.....

I am in the market for one too. I was focused on the 2019s as they are likely to be discounted more.
I think the best quote I've gotten is ~27k without any additional promotions. I feel this is not worth it for 2019. I'll gladly take it for 2020. There are so many dealers with many many 2019s on their lots but aren't willing to make a deal.

As for 2020s... any tips? I contacted Norm Reeves Cerritos as suggested. waiting for a reply. What is the best price you guys have seen out there?

Purchase Update

Pulled the trigger on a 2020 clarity base yesterday.
The best offer I went with was 28500 + TTL (no accessories and other BS), from Norm Reeves Honda Vista.
I got an additional 1000 off ($500 for recent grad and $500 for medical worker), bringing my total to around 27500+TTL. The 1000 rebate was applied after taxes, towards the downpayment.

If you get a quote from Spreen honda in Loma Linda, it will seem like they have the lowest price, but when you go in, they will try to sell you about 3k worth of add-ons. I refused to pay for them and they refused to take them out, so I just walked out. So, beware of places like Spreen Honda and Riverside Metro Group Honda, among several others.

Glad to hear another subsidiary of Norm Reeves Honda got you into a Clarity!

Yes, do beware of many dealers that will squeeze more profit by adding: $5 plastic door guards, cheap $50 alarm system they already have on all their lot cars, and etching for over $3,000 !
I avoid at all costs those types of dealers.

Norm Reeves IMO has always been a straight shooter, transparent pricing, and very easy to deal with. I my past 3 Hondas - the price was not even an issue.

yup. straightforward deal with these guys. I think they had an alarm system on the car, but they disabled it before the sale. I was so happy with the straightforward transaction that I negotiated another one for the same price for my cousin. Been happy with the car/purchase.

New Owner here.

Bought 2020 Clarity Base in Oregon for $25,300 + TTL. Dealership also gave Oregon State Rebate of $2500 instant (They will claim from the State) to make it $22,800 + TTL. On top of this is $7500 Federal Credit. So Final Price: $15,300

Went with Black Color to hide few things :-)

Those are some excellent deals you guys get on Clarities in CA. I got my 2018 Clarity base for $34K in OK back in March 2019... negotiations didn't help me a great deal. Plus, we only get the $7500 Federal tax credit... state offers zero. At least the power is cheap to here to charge it. Summer TOU rate is .05 cents per kWh, off season is .11 cents per kWh.

This is true of Keyes Woodland Hills too. They will come in very low, but will go up as soon as you walk in the door.

I had the same experience with Keyes Honda in Van Nuys when I went to get the Clarity.

If you deal with the internet team, they give the best pricing.

But if you walk in and talk to floor sales person, the price will go way up.

I never walk onto a dealer lot - always deal online, text, and phone before I step onto a dealer's lot.
