Has anyone done a hardwire installation for a Radar Detector, etc?

Was looking to find a tap in near the Rear View Mirror to add a Hardwire for a Radar/Laser Detector and maybe a Dash cam.
Might just run both down to the fuse box but wondering if anyone had any experience on this car.

Thanks!

The Count

Since I leased the Honda, it would not be a good idea to cut into the wiring so I use an OBD2 port to power adapter on my V1.

The V1 uses the accessory called SAVVY which plugs into the OBD port and a RJ11 telephone cord runs around the windshield.

Thanks! Never actually have seen the OBD power ports...kind of a great reversible idea. I've used the Add-a-Fuse circuits a few times over the years also but my favorite installs over the years were just tapping into the mirrors or dome lights. These were of course on higher volume cars that many people have done the same and knew the wire locations.

Unless you like going fast in a 25 to 45 mile an hour zone, forget a detector. Sell any hybrids you own and get your detector on a gas guzzler that likes 70 to 100 mph. All cars and my motorhome get lousy mpg after 60 mph. Yes 65 will not mess up too much. But even my porsche will get 37 mpg on a highway when less than 65 mph. I have owned the first insight, civic hybrid, new accord hybrid (and for 2 stupid years a Acura TLX v6) and now the Clarity for 10 months and 10k miles. I have used 11 gallons of gas so far (getting 7 next week). If you are not a person in a rush all the time you will love this car. But it will zip along when you need it. But if you like to race to redlights and stop signs (and forget to regen) then buy something else.

I use fuse tapped to connect my dashcam (Thinkware Q800) directly from the driver side fusebox. Fully reversible. Routing the wire from headliner around the side airbag then through the A pillar and around the dash. Removing the weather strip will have plenty of room to route & tug the wire to the fusebox area.
