Thumbs up Hello! 1 Year owner from the Bay Area!

I bought a honda clarity after driving around a Prius Prime - I wanted something with a bit more EV juice :-).

Just passed my 1 year mark! Currently sitting at about 6200 miles... and also constantly getting the maintenance reminder. Is it really necessary to get maintenance on the clarity at 1 year? I thought it was ~7500 miles is when we're generally supposed to do maintenance.

Really enjoy the car minus the infotainment - but Android Auto makes it tolerable

Welcome aboard!

The MM may be extended if you do your own tire rotations.

The MM is indicating service but may not need an oil change.

You should get your tires rotated for free from America's or Discount Tire and then reset the tire rotation yourself.

That should get you a couple of months more before oil service is needed.

The maintenance minder is displaying some codes telling you what maintenance is due. You didn't mention which codes that you are seeing, but the typical for around 6,000-7000 miles is to get codes A01. The code descriptions are listed in the manual, but for these three it is:

A Oil and filter change
0 Inspection (brakes, coolant levels, suspension, etc)
1 Tire rotation

What people have observed is that when tire rotation is due, rather than the maintenance minder just popping up code 1, it seems to pop up codes A and 0 as well, even if they aren't due yet. One guess as to the logic for this is that they assume that if an owner is in getting their tires rotated they may want to have the other items done at the same time even though they aren't quite due yet.

To confirm this, have your tires rotated as 4sallypat suggested. Then go into the maintenance minder screen which is under the wrench icon in the dashboard information display. In that screen you can reset maintenance items that are completed. Reset just tire rotation, then most likely not only will code 1 go away but codes A and 0 will go away as well, which confirms that they weren't really due. They will pop up later when actually needed.

Many people including myself just ignore the maintenance minder for oil change since it doesn't seem to factor in miles driven in EV, and they just change the oil and filter once a year which is the maximum time stated in the owners manual.

Here is a link to a thread which discusses the magic behind the maintenance minder (MM).

https://www.clarityforum.com/#/topics/1115

This thread is based solely on data collected off a clarity and demonstrates the logic (or lack of) behind the MM.

The purpose of the data collection and subsequent thread is to assist new owners in developing a process which works for them and the clarity they drive. Understanding what is behind the MM process should help you make informed decisions.

Hope this helps and good luck.
